Tessa
Tessa is a gorgeous Mini Bernedoodle Girl with a stunning wavy doodle coat. Her adult weight is expected to be between 20 - 30 lbs. She was hand selected from an amazing breeder who focuses on raising their litters on a service dog curriculum. This is her first week of The Puppy Path Academy, all Pawprint Pups have to complete a minimum of 4 weeks of Stay and Learn and receive their AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Certificate before they go home to their new family.
Week One with Tessa
We have learned so much about Tessa this week. Tessa has had a very balanced and thoughtful approach to her first week with us. She has learned her new schedule very quickly and is excelling.
Potty Training : Tessa picked up on her potty training schedule very quickly. She has had limited accidents and is sleeping through the night without any accidents.
Puppy Pen Positives : Tessa enjoys spending time in her playpen filled with her things. She goes in and out of her crate on her own and makes a choice to take naps with the door open. She falls asleep in her bed as well and has been great with playing by herself and self soothing with her toys for small amounts of time.
Socializing : Tessa has had a fun week safely meeting new friends and experiencing the world from her car seat, her sling carrier, her wagon, and our arms. She has been able to be included in our daily schedules and gets to see and smell new things everyday. She has also made a close dog friend with our Beau.
First Vet Visit : Perfect Healthy Puppy Check
Bonding : I have spent intentional bonding time with Tessa each day, incorporating massage and grooming into our quiet time together, she is very happy to be handled. She is having positive experiences with all ages and is a very happy affectionate girl.
Functional Conditioning : Tessa has experienced all of the noises of an active family. Her playpen is centrally located in our home giving her a front row seat, with her own space, to all normal noises we all have in our homes. She has been very balanced in her observations and has shown very little fearfulness.
Confidence Building : Positive encouragement games have started and she is very eager to please and engage.
Week two with tessa
Tessa had a great second week!
She has learned her new schedule very quickly and is excelling.
Potty Training : Becoming a Pro! She has had very limited accidents and is sleeping through the night without any accidents, and alerting us when she needs to go outside.
Puppy Pen Positives : Tessa enjoys spending time in her play pen filled with her things. She goes in and out of her crate on her own and makes a choice to take naps with the door open. She falls asleep in her bed as well and is alerting to get out of her pen for potty.
Socializing : Tessa has had another fun week safely meeting new friends and experiencing the world from her car seat, her sling carrier, her wagon, and our arms. She has also been great out and about with her bed as her safe space. She has been included in our daily schedules and gets to see and smell new things everyday. Her world is getting a little bit bigger and she has started exploring more. She went to her first restaurant and slept through it.
Vet Visit : Did great at the vet for her shot series check up.
Bonding : Tessa is very people focused and trusting. We have been able to build on her confident foundation and keep her interactions with everyone very positive. She is having positive experiences with all ages in new environments this week.
Functional Conditioning : Tessa has experienced all of the noises of an active family. Her pen is centrally located in our home giving her a front row seat, but her own space, to all normal noises we have in our homes. She has been very balanced in her observations and has shown very little fearfulness. This week she has shown that she is very aware of her schedule, alerting for things she wants and to go out to potty. She is very smart and has really figured out all of her new tricks with training and is happy with a positive reward.
Confidence Building : Positive encouragement games have started and she is very eager to please and engage. She has been great with all different surface textures under foot, she loves to climb in her play yard and is eager to follow cues to explore. She is also very food motivated making her training sessions very positive for her. She enjoys being silly and interacting with us, she is cuddly and enjoys following us around with a happy bounce.
WEEK THREE WITH TESSA
Tessa has had so much fun exploring, her world is growing! She went to the beach and the farmers market. Her personality is shining through. She is a very happy, thoughtful, balanced puppy. She has learned some new tricks this week and showed more confidence and focus on training basics. She is doing great with potty training and sleeping through the night. She sleeps well in her pen or chooses her crate for naps. She is teething, which is right on track for her age and has done well with redirecting those puppy teeth to her chew toys. Tessa is very human focused and happily engages with learning new commands and loves to get treats! She is a fair girl with other dogs and plays politely. She is low to moderate energy, she is up for an adventure but also likes to just hang out with everyone or hang in her cozy beds with a chew. She likes to ride in the car or wagon and hang out in her carrier when she isn’t walking on her loose leash.
